Last Thursday 20th January, the International Tourism Fair FITUR hosted the presentation of the next edition of Seatrade Cruise Med, to be held in Málaga in 2022. The event, one of the most important ones of the cruise industry worldwide, will bring together the main cruise lines, tour operators and stakeholders of the industry; it had to be postponed in 2020 and will take place on September 14 and 15, 2022, at the Trade Fairs and Congress Center of Málaga.
The location of Málaga, the possibilities of the destination to organize activities, the excellent air, rail and road connections, as well as the hotel capacity were the most outstanding aspects for choosing Malaga as the venue for this remarkable meeting.
Chiara Giorgi, Global Brand & Event Director, Seatrade Cruise, stated that "the Mediterranean continues to be a key segment for the growth and evolution of cruise traffic", adding that "Seatrade Cruise Med will once again bring the sector together with a renewed program, providing very interesting information on market trends and technological advances, and offering opportunities for collaboration to forge new connections”.
As a new addition, throughout the week a varied program of activities will be developed in the urban and port environment, with the aim of promoting the cruise industry to the citizen and foster their participation in the event.
The event is organised by Seatrade Cruise, and hosted by the Port of Málaga, Málaga City Council, Costa del Sol Tourism Board and Andalucía Tourist Board, with the support of Ports of Spain, MedCruise, Global Ports Holding, City Sightseeing and Suncruise Andalucía, a list that will very likely be increased in the following months.
Hosting Seatrade Cruise Med is excellent news for Málaga and Andalucía, since it will be meeting point of the industry for a week, and promote Málaga as a cruise port both as transit and homeport. In addition, it is a very welcomed event by the industry given the fact that the last edition took place 4 years ago in Lisbon, with over 4,300 visitors from 89 countries and representatives from 30 different cruise lines.
